How to Obtain and Refine The Catch - Genshin Impact detailed Guide
A step by step guide towards obtaining The Catch polearm - everything you need to know.
The catch is an awesome polearm weapon that everyone can get completely for free. This weapon provides up to 45.9% energy recharge bonus at R90 and it is a very good 4 star weapon for characters like Xiangling and Raiden Shogun. Additionally, at higher refinements it will give an increase in elemental burst damage and crit rate. If you lack better alternatives it can be a solid option for other characters as well like Shenhe, Thoma, Zhongli and Rosaria. Last but not least, our beloved YaoYao can make use of this weapon if there is a need for more frequent burst healing in the team!
Follow these steps below to obtain this wonderful free weapon in Genshin Impact:
Make sure you finish your teapon quest (A teapon to call home) from Madame Ping in Liyue harbour.
Visit Nantuck the fisherman just outside Monstadt gates (take a left turn once out fo the gates) and make sure you completed the world quest quest called Exploding Population (if not talk to Katheryne first then to Nantuck.
Start fishing for Medaka which you will need 9 in total to obtain the False worm bait, Fake fly bait and a fishing line stabiliser. You can go for the Widntangler fishing rod but keep in mind that the bonus will only work in Monstadt.
Craft some Fruit Paste bait (each craft gives 10) and get baits. You need 1 sunsietta and 1 wheat per craft.
Visit these Medaka fishing spots in Monstadt.
If you need more Medakas you can check these Liyue fishing spots.
Once you catch 9 Medakas, talk to the fisherman again outside Monsadt and buy the Stabiliser, and the two bait recipes.
Make sure you have access to Inazuma, if not continue on your archon quest.
To craft False worm Baits you will need Slime condensates and Berries. Craft like 5 times to get 50 baits.
To craft Fake Fly baits you will need Sakura Blooms and Horsetails. Again, craft like 5 times to get 50 baits.
Additional note: You can get Sakura Blooms from Inazuma purple clouds (just interact with them using electro) and Horsetails from the marshes in Liyue.
With these new baits and your trusty stabiliser, it's now time to catch 20 Rusty Koi and 20 Golden Koi.
Visit these locations in Monstdt Liyue and Inazuma. This can take some time between respawns so be patient and check the respawns every few days.
At the same time, we can fish for the 6 Elusive Raimei Angelfish which can only be found in one spot in Inazuma. To reach the spot safely, instead fo swimming directly from the nearby teleport, use the boat to the south of the teleport (red arrow) and go around from the South East side. If done carefully you can avoid aggroing the mobs and catch your Angelfish.
Tip 1: Raimei Angelfish only spawn at night (from 18:00 till 6:00)
Tip 2: If you have Thoma include him in the Party - You can get double catch in Inazuma.
Once you have caught 6 Raimei Angelfish, 20 Rusty Koi and 20 Godlen Koi go to Inazuma Fishing Association and talk to Miss Kujirai Momiji.
Congratulations, although it can take two weeks, you are now the proud owner of one of the best *totally free* energy recharge polearms in Genshin Impact.
After you get the Catch, you might want to get some refining levels:
You will need an extra 3 Raimei Angelfish, 10 Pufferfish and 10 Bitter pufferfish per refinement level (multiply by 4 for maximum refinement).
You can find the Puffer fish in Monstady, Liyue and Inazuma.
It will take you a while to colelct al lpuffergish, especially the green ones.
Tip 3: You can visit your friends' worlds and fish to speed up the process but it breaks the immersion, be warned.
