"Oh yes, the memory," she whispered to herself, her heart aching with a familiar pang. "My brother, my twin. Where is he?" She closed her eyes, recalling the last time they were together. "Alas, we are now departed, but I shall find him one day... one day..."
Determined, Yaoyao stood up and dusted off her clothes. She adjusted her backpack, making sure her pet Yuegui was snug inside. With a deep breath, she set off towards the horizon, her polearm glinting in the sunlight.
After a while, she arrived at a place called Cape Oath. The view was mesmerizing—cliffs overlooking the vast ocean, waves crashing against the rocks below. As she took in the scenery, she heard a voice behind her.
"Hey! Are you lost or something?" Yaoyao turned around to see a small, floating creature with a big smile and an even bigger personality. "I'm Paimon, your trusty and argumentative companion!"
Yaoyao giggled. "Nice to meet you, Paimon. I'm Yaoyao. Are you a pet or... emergency food?"
Paimon puffed up indignantly. "Paimon is neither! Paimon is going to help you on your journey. Together, we'll become strong and overcome all obstacles in our path. We'll find your twin brother, no matter what!"
Yaoyao smiled warmly. "Thank you, Paimon. I appreciate your help."
As they continued their journey, they came across a serene lake where stars seemed to fall from the sky, their reflections dancing on the water's surface. In the distance, a massive tree stood tall, its branches reaching towards the heavens. At its base was a statue—one of the Seven.
"What's this place called?" Yaoyao asked.
"Oh yes, Cape Oath," Paimon replied. "And that's a Statue of the Seven. Touch it and see what happens!"
With a sense of wonder, Yaoyao approached the statue and placed her hand on it. A warm, comforting energy flowed through her, filling her with renewed strength and determination. She knew that with Paimon by her side and the blessings of the Seven, she would find her brother and uncover the mysteries of Teyvat.
Their adventure had only just begun.
Disappointed but intrigued, Yaoyao and Paimon pressed on. They soon stumbled upon a crimson crystal, its surface glowing with an eerie light. "What could this be?" Yaoyao wondered, picking it up and examining it closely.
Before they could ponder further, a scout named Amber appeared, her bright eyes full of curiosity. "Hey there! I'm Amber, an Outrider of the Knights of Favonius. What brings you to Mondstadt?"
Yaoyao introduced herself and Paimon, explaining their quest. Amber smiled warmly. "Well, you're in luck! Mondstadt, the City of Freedom, is just ahead. Follow me!"
As they made their way to the city, they were ambushed by a group of vicious and gnarly hilichurls. A fierce battle ensued, with Yaoyao and Paimon diving into the action to help Amber. Yaoyao's polearm danced through the air, her Dendro magic weaving a tapestry of green energy that overwhelmed their foes. Amber was impressed by Yaoyao's skills and, as a token of gratitude, gifted her a special wind glider.
"With this, you can jump off cliffs and descend slowly and gracefully, like a dandelion!" Amber explained.
Just as they were about to enter Mondstadt, a thunderous roar echoed through the sky. The dragon, which Amber identified as Stormterror, was attacking the city. Without hesitation, Yaoyao sprang into action, her polearm and magic fending off the dragon's fierce attacks. Her bravery and skill caught the eye of a knight named Kaeya.
"Impressive," Kaeya remarked, approaching Yaoyao after the battle. "You handled that dragon with remarkable prowess. Would you accompany me to meet Jean, the Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius?"
Honored by the invitation, Yaoyao agreed. That evening, as she lay in bed, she felt a mix of excitement and unease. What new adventures awaited her in this land of freedom? With Paimon by her side and new friends to support her, she knew she was ready for whatever came next.
At the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Yaoyao overheard a suspicious conversation between Jean and a mysterious woman. Unbelievably, the woman wanted to kill Stormterror, whom Yaoyao later learned was actually Dvalin, the god of the four winds and protector of Mondstadt. "But why is Dvalin attacking Mondstadt?" Yaoyao wondered, the plot thickening in her mind. She remembered the stranger she saw near the dragon—who was he, and why did he run off?
By this time, Paimon's stomach was rumbling again. Yaoyao discreetly gestured for her to keep quiet, especially in the presence of Grandmaster Jean. Yaoyao discovered that the mysterious people were Fatui diplomats. "How many factions are there in Teyvat?" she mused.
This was when Yaoyao and Paimon met Lisa, the scholar and librarian of Mondstadt. Lisa dwelled in a large library close to the cathedral where the nuns of the Church of Favonius resided. They would meet the nuns later, but for now, they needed to focus on the strange figure. It turned out he was a bard, sometimes tone-deaf according to Paimon, who liked to sing sonnets. He was also an Archon. "What is an Archon?" Yaoyao asked. Lisa explained that Archons are gods who rule over one of the Teyvat nations, acting as protectors.
Venti, wielded a bow, had an Anemo vision, and controlled the winds. "Let's talk to the nuns," Venti exclaimed. He had a plan to borrow the Holy Lyre, the most sacred object in the nuns' possession, to help his friend Dvalin. But the nuns refused, so he asked Yaoyao to sneakily take it.
This was too much for Yaoyao. She was shy and confused, never having stolen anything before. She always helped others and wasn't sure what to do. "What do you say, Paimon?" she asked. But Paimon was hungry.
During her mission, the Lyre was stolen by the Fatui, and an investigation took place. Diluc met them and set out a plan to uncover the mystery, in total secrecy, behind the back of the Knights of Favonius. This was too much for Yaoyao, and she broke down in tears.
Jean joined the team undercover, and Yaoyao was glad. She burst into a cry of relief and took a short walk around the Dawn Winery. The view was beautiful, with hills in the background and a monster splashing behind them. Yaoyao wondered what type of creatures she would encounter in her travels.
After many fights and struggles, the team managed to obtain the Holy Lyre. Everyone thanked Yaoyao, who was happy and excited. Paimon reminded her that they needed to help Dvalin. They entered the domain, where an Abyss Mage got in the way. They defeated him with Yaoyao's polearm, but Dvalin escaped and the Lyre was broken.
This attempt brought more questions and uncertainties. Would Yaoyao be able to help Stormterror, or would she fail? Would she meet Xiangling again now that she was on a special mission? And would the night sky of tomorrow be as nice? Only time would tell.
